Werkstudierende Software Engineering (Python, Kubernetes, OpenID Connect)

feature-image

We develop software for Identity & Access Management based on open standards such as OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 – vendor-neutral, interoperable and capable of being operated independently. We are looking for working students to join our development team who want to gain real-world software development experience alongside their studies: using Python, Linux, databases and containers, on a product that is in active use. We’ll teach you the IAM expertise. What you should bring to the role: a solid foundation, curiosity and a commitment to writing clean code.

Your responsibilities

  • Working as part of the development team – with your own clearly defined features and tasks
  • Developing backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI, Django)
  • Data models, migrations and SQL queries (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Automated testing and code reviews
  • Docker images, CI/CD pipelines and deployments in Kubernetes
  • Integration of login and single sign-on using OpenID Connect

Requirements

  • Currently studying (Business) Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar subject
  • Some programming experience with Python – gained through your studies, a part-time job or personal projects; experience with Django or FastAPI is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Linux, SQL and Git
  • An interest in Docker and Kubernetes – some experience is an advantage
  • Interest in web protocols such as OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 – prior knowledge will give your career a real boost
  • An engineering mindset: you want to understand why things work and aren’t satisfied with the first workaround
  • Very good command of German; a good command of English is an advantage
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently

What you’ll learn with us

  • Professional software development as part of a team: code reviews, testing, CI/CD
  • Containerisation and operations with Docker and Kubernetes
  • OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0 and other open standards relating to digital identities – from people who are actively involved in developing these standards
  • Security by design

What we offer

  • Practical ‘on-the-job’ training with experienced engineers and IAM experts
  • The chance to work on a real product – your code goes into production
  • Dedicated points of contact and regular feedback
  • Flexible working hours tailored to your timetable
  • Long-term prospects – even beyond your studies

Location

Remote: Somewhere in the DACH region would be great, but as long as you’re in the CET +/-1 time zone, we’re happy.

Workload

Up to 20 hours per week during term time; full-time during the semester breaks by arrangement.

Pay

€15–18 per hour (depending on previous experience)
